Tease Install

Postby asinnamon on Tue Mar 11, 2008 5:40 pm

I finally had to toss my ESG. The ends started to get crunchy. I could have trimmed it and been fine, but then it would have been shorter then what I like. So...New hair!

I ordered 5 packs of Tease, 22 inch stick tips from Your Hair Shop. Color was #4/30. I really wanted 4/33 but she didn't stock it. Got the hair, did my henna thing and started my install. I had to do most of it myself this time around. Usually hubby does all the back for me, but no this time. I set myself up in the bedroom where the only large mirror is(we are staying in my inlaws SMALL 1 bdrm log home while we finish our new house). I started with the front sides and then sectioned the back. Using a multiple hole template, one space at a time, I was able to get 2 1/2 rows done before Jim got home to help me. It took FOREVER and a ton of paitence. But, the ones I did are comfortable, no cross hairs either. Then Jim got home and finished the last 1 1/2 rows for me....I still haven't trimmed it up. The ends are pretty good and I'm impressed with the overall quality of the hair for the price. The one thing I did not like were the tips themselves. They were already whitening and some had hair falling of the tip itself. I would recommend respinning to anyone using these tips. On the up side, I haven't had much shedding. Suprising considering the state of the tips.

I'll post photos in a minute. They are on my laptop.....be right back

Looks fantastic! I really don't know how you ladies do this yourself! Your husband is definately a keeper if he helps you with your hair, now that is a great guy. How do you like the tease hair?

 yes, well he is a keeper....even tho he may have trashed my camera last night.... what are you gonna do, yah know?

Thanks about the install! I was actually pretty nervous about doing the back by myself. But, I was thought it thru, made a good set up and went slow. I had lots of lights around me and a tall bar stool to sit in. The hardest thing were the blisters I started to get on my fingers from squeezing the pliers at a weird angle. but, bandaids fixed that. It did take a long time, about 3 hours or so just to get 2 1/2 rows done. But next time I have routine down now so it won't take SO long...

Today was day 3 with the tease. It's had 3 washes since the henna and it is still running orange and smells in the shower. I have had a couple small knots today, but nothing bad. I still may end up cutting a few inches off just because it's heavy and I don't like ANY pulling on my natural hair.

Oh, frenchie, the reason my hair is so shiny and healthy looking is from the henna. You ought to think about giving cassia a try on your natural hair. it would give you all the benefits of henna without any of the color.

I always laugh when people say they wished they had my hair. it only looks like I have a lot in the pictures. It's really very fine and thin. It's so straight I can't even keep a perm in it. I'm so glad I found extensions!

LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE IT,,, it looks so natural & healthy-shinie.

Really the henna adds that shine-- I may have to try that clear stuff,, wondering if I would still need to use my gloss drops?

I have been thinking of trying henna this year,, but kinda chicken. As I have only done a temp dye job- once & went to a salon to get it done.

It is about time though-- I am tierd of plucking my greys out & they seem to be multipling these days

Funny you say that Asinnamon, I did try Cassia Obavatia, wanted to post about it because the results were somewhere between tragic and funny...
I tried if for an hour on some of my old Bohyme, the hair turned GREEN  , I shampooed it a hundred times, the color is IN the hair shaft. I took some pictures of course!
It has got to do with the chemicals they use for Bohyme coloring I guess. I am glad I didn't try it the extensions I was wearing....

Frenchie, I would be suprised if what you used was actually pure cassia, if cassia at all. It should not turn anything green. I know people get weird results with compound hennas(read impure henna mixed w/ chemicals), I wonder if there is a such thing as compound cassia. Where did you purchase your stuff from?

I purchased it from the same companied recommended by Hennahead from DIY. I forgot the name, but I can find it... I think it was pure cassia obavatia, but since Bohyme uses special chemical to color hair, I bet that's what provoked the reaction

Assinnamon, your hair looks gorgeous as usual! Can't believe you can do all that on your own (well, with the help of your wonderful hubby!). It makes me laugh thinking about how your in-laws feel about your locked in your bedroom for hours. What do they think of your extensions? I'm interested in trying the TEASE hair; have heard some good things about it. I actually really liked the D-Lux hair, although I understand the shedding is kind of crazy! I don't mind as long as the hair doesn't tangle. Thanks for sharing.
