Great Lengths Install - pix

Postby greathairday on Fri Mar 14, 2008 2:04 pm

I have been getting extensions for about 4 years and feel like I have done it all. A lot of DIY and wefts as well as individuals. About 6 months ago, I SWORE off extensions but - I'm back and I broke down and went with GL to give it a try to myself. My hair is very short due to a BAD choice of hair cut and I want to go back to long with extensions slowly so I started with just 8" and will go to 12" with my next install and so on.

I have to say it was SOOOOOO lovely not to do my hair myself and the blending she did is really good. My hair was short and VERY blunt cut in the back. When I tried to put wefts in it myself it was a total mushroom head disaster. I know a lot of you ladies are DIY QUEENS and folks here have had mixed results with GL but I thought I would share this experience.

There are about 250 strands (5 bundles) all over my head. She trimmed the bonds so they are about half and inch long and about the width of piece of rice (uncooked) installed - It took about 3 1/2 hours for the install and blending. The go practically up to my part but you cannot see them at all. Plus they are very light and comfortable on my head.

I am happy with it. Although not a HUGE change, I feel like it has taken years off my face! I will keep you posted on how the hair hold up and how my hair is when they come out.

This is a really natural install! Great job. Great to hear you are happy with GL as well. How long are you planning to wear this install for? Let us know how it wears for you. Thanks a lot for sharing your pics.

Unbelievable how great this install looks. The colors match perfectly and blending is totally undetectable. She did an excellent job. Thanks for sharing. I love hair porn ](*,)

Thanks for all the replies. I am not sure how long I am going to wear it. At about 8 weeks I will start watching it really closely. I'm guessing I will try to get 12 weeks out of it. My hair is so fine that I feel like it will start pulling after 2 months.

I mentioned this on HB but I will comment here too. The hair looks great! It looks very very natural. 250 bonds seems like alot, do you have really thick hair?

BTW....just a reminder about picture sizes (I know I know, I sound like a broken record) The widest the pictures should be is 600 pixels or they distort the page.

Sorry about the photo size...I haven't put pix up before. I will try to fix it.

I don't have thick hair at all. 250 is WAY more than I usually have but she layered it SOOOOO much to make my short choppy layers blend that I think we needed that much hair to keep it full enough with all the layering. Some of the extension pieces in back are cut to about 4 inches! But my top layer in like 2 1/2 inches so it blends well. I was so afraid of being a mushroom head!

That makes total sense. Smart of you to plan out your maintenance plan because you definitely don't want it to damage your hair. I can't get over how well it was trimmed/layered. Just great!
